The database tab offers, under Names and Lists, aid in the search for ancestors from the towns Ober- and Unter-Metzenseifen (UM and OM) and Stoß (ST) and also from other places in today's Slovakia.

After logging on, there are several ways to search the Metzenseifen database. Using the topics, the broadest search is Searching the complete database. To use this choice, select this item. Then enter your surname or a specific year into search box. This provides a listing of all records recorded in “Old Metzenseifen Site” by volunteers. There are over 30,000 items in this database. For a more specific search of church records, the next three choices are birth, marriage, death records and also records of the cemeteries. Make your selection for type of record, then type at least the first three characters of a surname. The result will be displayed below.
The Cemeteries in Metzenseifen-link can be used to find birth and death dates and family relationships. Some photos of tombstones are available on the far right.
Another choice is the search of all parish registers, using the LDS microfilms. Due to the size of this category, you must make several selections to narrow the search to a specific film (see image below). First (1.) you must choose “UM” for Unter-Metzenseifen, “OM” for Ober-Metzenseifen or “ST” for Stoß for the city. See image which shows these choices. Second (2.), you must select which type of record you are searching “B” birth, “M” marriage, “D” death or “A” for all. Third, search down the list to year and month. Note the Image Number (4.) before selecting the link to the LDS films under film number (3.). Once the film appears, you must enter in the image number in the selection box to advance the film to the correct image. Using the forward and backward arrows by the image box, you can advance or go back to the image number you need.
Also note at the bottom of this page, there is an area where you can enter the film number and image number and a specific record and date. This information helps others find records more easily by helping to index these thousands of line items.

Please also see the link to the already digitally recorded church records of Slovakia from 1592 until 1910. This data (abt. 2,000,000) were compiled by volunteers for FamilySearch.org (LDS). Note that, if different, the baptismal date has been recorded for birth. An additional check of these entries is useful.
